Well we finally make it to our last destination after a LONG 34 hours traveling by bus and train. Our train broke down twice which made the trip even longer then expected. Also when we arrived at 1am the hostel had lost our reservation and was fully booked, so we had no where to stay! They send us down the street, which we were upset about b.c after 34 hours of no sleep we were tired and just hoping for a place to sleep. turns out the hotel down the street was very nice and the same price as the hostel so it was okay. we sorted outu the hostel the next day aswell so we are back in the original palce now.
Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, we thought Hungry was hot! We were wrong! It is a nice 56degrees here with it cooling down to breezy 43 degrees at night! I never thought i would be able to sweat so much by just sitting in one spot!
we went into the blue mosque this afternoon which was amazing, and then later we met a man on the street who was really nice and took us in to a mosque during prayers and explained everything that was happening. we thought he was just being nice, but turnes out later he showed us to his carpet/rug store and wanted us to buy one! Awkward situation times 100.
kirk bardered down a 150 lira Burbery scarf for me to 20 lira! then later the next day he bartered down a 175 lira Rolex watch to 40. i i have quite the barterer with me!
Kirk bought a huge hooka (turkish water pipe) and we also bought lots of tea here!
We also have decided that Istanbul is by far one of the nicest cities we've been been, and VERY clean compaired to waht we thought it would be like. The only thing we cant understand are the turkish toilettes! WHY!!!!!!!!! (for those of you who do not know what the toilettes here are.... they are holes in the ground with places for your feet on either side!) Again WHY! luckily our hostel has REAL toilettes so as much as possible i hold everything in until we get back that day!
see you all in 2 days!

Corfu
Well we are having a blast in Corfu!
It has been very relaxing here compaired to the rest of our trip. The hostel is amazing, breakfast and dinner are included and you just have to walk down the steps from their deck and you are on the beach! The deck over looks the water, so we have an amazing view!
Yesterday we rented an ATV and cruised around the island checking out the other beaches and little towns.
We have made tones of friends here from all over the world and we are going to keep in touch with through e-mails etc.
Tomorrow we are heading off to our last destination before home.... Istanbul. We have had some problems figuring out how to get there, but we think we have it sorted out now. Thanks mom and dad for trying to help us out!
Anyways, we will report back later and see you in 6 days!

Athens
Hey Everyone.
Well we have enjoyed out stay in Athens. We did all the site-seeing stuff yesterday and then met a really nice couple from australia and went out for dinner and drinks with them last night.
The only thing that I am disapointed with is there is no humus here! At home humus is on every greek menu, but i guess that is just a north american add-on. We've eaten lamb everynight and it is delicious!
We are off to the Turkish Embassy today while we are waiting for our ferry that leaves tonight at midnight heading for Corfu. It is about a 8 hour ride, so we will be arriving in the morning.
We are REALLY looking forward to this next week of just relaxing! All of this backpacking has tired us out, so we are looking forward to this vacation at the end of our trip hehe.
Will report back from Corfu... hope everyone is doing well!

Pompei & Trip To Athens
Well Kirk now has a funky white passport. The temporary passports supposidly come in white, so everyone we give it to now asks why on earth it is white. Everything worked out though so it is all good. I guess your referece was okay mom, becuase they did not ask for any others.
Because the passport went well and we got in time, we made it to Pompei. It was one of our favourite towns. It was sooo much more quiet and small town like then all the other places we have stayed recently, it was beautiful. We have decided that if we go on a trip like this again we are definatly staying in the small towns just outside the big cities and training into them. It is just so much more relaxing. We went and saw the ruins....which were facinating!!!! there are actual frozen bodies preserved that were trapped in the erruption. It was very sad to see. They were in suffering positions, one was even on his hands and knees with her hands in a praying position. We will show pics when we get home. That afternoon we hiked mt.vesuvus. There was a bus that took us asbout 3/4 of the way up, and then for 2 km we had to hike. the bus ride up there was intense. because the road was so windy, the driver had to honk his horn every 10 seconds to make sure that no other cars were comming around the corners the other way or we would have had a head on because the roads were so skinny. The hike up wasnt too bad, it was actually quite nice because we were up so high it was cold...! Good change from the weather we have been having. The crater at the top was amazing! You could even see the smoke comming out of it! Kinda scared me!
It was weird. we actually hooked up with a girl in Pompei for the whole day that we met the first morning we were there. She started chatting to us and we realized she was also from canada. We hung out the whole time we were there, she was a little nuts but awesome! Turns out acutally that her father also works for ledcor!!! I bet you dont believe it dad. He is a project manager in California!!! Small World.
Anyways, we had to wake up at 6am the last morning in Pompei and catch a 3 different trains to the port in Bari where we caught the ferry over to Patras Greece. Note to any of you planning on traveling by ferry to Greece, the economy seats which be bought for 150 euro's mean that you basically sleep whereever you can find. We luckly found some recliners on the outside deck which we set our sleeping bags up on. Others were spralled all over the floor and stars inside and outside! It was nuts. Needless to say i did not get much sleep.
We have arrived in Athens in one peace though and am happy to be out of italy.
will report back soon.
we leave for corfu on the 14th

Rome
Well Rome has been interesting to say the least.
The Colliseum and Patheon were beautiful! We did not go into the colliseum though b.c the lineup was 2 hours long. It was still gorgeous from the outside though! The ruins were incredible aswell. We walked to the Vatican City, which is not far from our hostel, but the lineup was redicliously long. We saw St.Peters though and it was amazing.
Other then doing that. Yesterday we spent the day trying to get kirk a new passport! They kept his old passport in order to make the new one, so he doesnt even have one at the moment which is a weird feeling. We are hoping it is going to be ready by tomorrow, because we are suppose to be heading to Pompei for two nights before catching the ferry to Greece.
Today we are planning on heading to a local beach nearby.... but the guy at the front dest of the hostel told kirk when he was asking how to get there to leave me at the hostel... whatever that means... maybe there are a bunch of good-looking girls at the beach or something who knows hehe.
Anyways, we will report back when kirk gets his passport so you all know we are not stranded here in Italy.

Florence
We have had a good time in Florence so far. We are staying outside of the city about 10 minutes by bus, and the hostel had been made out of an old huge villa. It is a beautiful location. Yesterday we just lay a blanket out in the garden all afternoon and had a bottle of wine. It was very relaxing.
Just outside of the city centre there is a huge outdoor market, which we have come to everyday! They sell everything from clothes, to knockoff designer bags and sunglasses, jewlery etc. I have not had a problem spending money there :S
Kirk has officially turned into a european. First of all with his euro-style baithing suit he bought, and now he has gotten a man-purse! hehe. Hes rocking it all!
This afternoon we are heading out of the city to where all the wine vinards are and taking a 2 hour horse ride through them! It sounds pretty cool.
This is a quote that kirk wanted me to publish on here that i said the other night while we were having dinner.... well i knew pasta in italy was good, but i never could have imagined this! ...... Honestly i have never had such good pasta in my life. Nothing is over cooked, the sauces are to die for and the service is superb! Delicious. I definatly need to go on a diet when i get home hehe!
Anyways, we are off to Rome in 2 days, so i will report back from there!
miss everyone lots, and YES.... we forgot to put our families on the we miss list... but Obvioulsy that was just a given!
love you, dani and kirk

Venice
Hello everyone.
Well we finally made it to Venice after a 8 hour lay over because we had to catch a train to Austria to get here, and then the next train to Venice did not leave until night time. So we once again took a night train. It was interesting though because we were in a car with an Austrian man who did not speak a word of english, and 3 korean girls who also did not speak much english.
Once we got here we had to take a water bus to our hostel. we are staying on an island just across from the main city. Its a 5 minute boat ride across. Beautiful cannal. We got a 3 day boat bus ticket, and then on the 4th and 5th day we are going to take day trips to Verona and Milan.
Yesterday we got a gondola ride which was way too expensive for us, but who knows when we are going to be able to do it again right! It was fun, the man sang for us and took us around many canals.
Today we wandered around the city and found a cool outdoor touristy market selling some cool souveners. We then had to come home for lunch and a nap b.c we were so tired.
This hostel is the worst we have stayed at though. Which is a disapointment seen as it is one of the most expensive cities. There is no toilette seats, males and females are seperated and in rooms like approx 60 people. for each room there is only 2 showers and 3 toilettes.... and some of the toilettes are only 1 inch off the floor (also with no toilette seats). The hostel kicks everyone out from 9:30am-1:30pm everyday, and also has a curfue at 11:30 which is also anoying. Oh well, we are still having a great time here.
I will report back at the end of the stay.

Budapest
Hello Everyone,
we are dying of heat! It is 43* and sunny here... not a cloud in the sky. Man we are complainers, first it was too rainy and now we wish we had it back haha.
Yesterday we went to the Hungarian baths All day! We met 2 kids from australia the night before from our hostel and they joined us. It was BEAUTIFUL. Whirl Pools and 9 different bath pools to choose from, some inside and some outside.
The night before we were planning on going to a pub crawl, but when we got to the pub it was starting from it looked very sketchy with some old creepy man organizing it and not many ppl there. Soooo we started out own. We gathered up about 15 people and all headed to this richeously awesome (kirks words) outdoor disco. It was a gongshow but super super fun. Basically it was like our clubs at home, but outdoors and 10 times as big with multiple dance floors and also side lounge areas with professional dancers on podiums. It was quite the experiance. PLUS girls got in free which was nice for me ;)
Today we finally did some laundry.... it's sooo nice to be in clean clothes right now!
The city here feels a bit dirty compaired to home, but that's what we expected for being 1000 years older then vancouver.
in 2 days we head to Venice Italy, I will report back then!

prague
well prague was beautiful.
unfortunatly we had a couple problems that made us miss half our stay there trying to sort them out. but when we finally figured them out we enjoyed the city a lot.
it was very very hot when we were there. we are definately getting the weather extreems over here.
we are now in austria in salzburg. it is also very hot here. and a gorgeous city from what weve seen so far. we are staying right on the river pretty much which is lovely. the train ride her yesterday was nuts though... instead of the normal 6 hrs it was suppose to take it took us 12.
i will report again later. ive been busy trying to figure out my school schedule and so i am going to run out of time!

Singen
Well our trip down to the south of Germany to Singen to visit my relatives was great. They were WAY too nice to us. The first full day we had Hellen and Otto (my great aunt and uncle) took us to roitlingen for the afernoon where we met some of their good friends who showed u around. We saw the smallest street in the world there, which was 1 foot wide. Then Deiter took us to a castle which was awesome!
The 2nd day Sonya had us over for breakfast where we tried weissworst for the first time. It didnt look too appitizing, but it tasted fantastic. We then went for a walk around the forest where she lives. Andy then picked us up and took us to a coupe of castles in frace, and for dinner he actually got us to try pigs stomach! Also, better then i expected!
The 3rd day sonya took us to a market, and then to an old monestary. After that we went swimming in a small super warm lake! Very Nice. That evening they had a BBQ at their house where I have never seen so much BBQ'd meat! I was crazy.... We dont think we've ever eaten as much has we had in Germany!

1st Day of Berlin
Well our first day in Berlin wasnt too bad. It did not start raining until about 9pm when we were heading out for dinner... so it was nice that it did not rain on us all day long like most other places hehe.
We went to see the Reichtag (the parlement building here) that hitler actually ran out of. The lineup to go in was about 2-3 hours long though, so we decided not to wait and we are going to go back today and hopefully it will be shorter. Probably seen as it is raining AGAIN. Of Coarse.
We also went to see Check Point Charlie yesterday as well as the remains of the Berlin Wall. This I had not seen on my last trip here, so i found it very interesting. We bought a 2 day transportation ticket which included discounts on many of the museums we are going to go into which is good. Kirk got his passport stamped with 5 oldschool stamps at check point charlie!
Today we are also going to go to the Schloss (castle) charlottenbourg which has an egyptian museum inside. As well as an old air raid shelter!
We might decide to head to Singen a day early depending on what the relatives say. After today we think we have done all we came to berlin to do. it will loose us a nights pay here, but we are not playing for beds in singen, so we wont loose out on extra money. There are a lot of little towns we can go see around singen that i think would give kirk better understanding of german culture rather then the huge city which is pretty much exactly like home but in a different language.
we have found tones of cheap food here though! Currywurst is great from the streetstands, and there is a restaurant just at the end of the bus line from here that has 1 euro schnitzel..... so of coarse i am in heaven with that. That is one good thing we have found here, is that we are not spending a lot of money on food.
I will report again in a couple of days.
Hope everyone is enjoying the nice sunny weather back at home, because we miss it!!
love dani (and kirk today because he actually made it to breakfast!) ;)

That is one good thing we have found here, is that we are not spending a lot of money on food.
I will report again in a couple of days.
Hope everyone is enjoying the nice sunny weather back at home, because we miss it!!
love dani (and kirk today because he actually made it to breakfast!) ;)

Belgium, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Switzerland, Berlin
Well.... Now i realize how long its been since ive written a proper blog. Sorry!!!
Belgium was okay. We went to a chocolate factory which was awesome... It was unfortunatly raining the whole time though which made it bad for sight seeing. We made friends with our hosetls bartender and he took us to a different bar one night after he got off which was called Happy Days.
Rotterdam turned out to be a bit better. Yes, it rained most of the time, but there was one afternoon where it cleared up and we went to a fair that was across the street from our hostel. We soon found out though that the fair was aimed at little children... oh well. Let me tell you that when you go into a coffee shop in the netherlands..... you can not get coffee... Cafes are for coffee, so you can guess what coffee shops are hehe.
Amsterdam was another world. It was crazy going to the red light district. We ran into it during the day one day and didnt think much of it... the ladies wernt that good looking and there wernt very many. We went again one night though and i couldnt believe my eyes. There was not a single bad looking girl there. They all could have been models. It was werid to think they had chosen that as a career. We went to Tones of museums in Amsterdam. The wax museum was my favourite though! I got my picture with brad pitt! ;) The torture museum was cool, and we went into a sex museum which had to be done seen as we were in amsterdam which was funny.
Switzerland was Beautiful! Sooo much green and we were staying a blog away from the lake! It FINALLY cleared up for one of the days we were there which was nice, so we went to the beach. We tried to go see the united nations, but for some reason it was closed so our guided tour did not happen. As we were walking home from the beach was ran into a massive parade! All the streets were blocked off from cars and they were FULL of people. I cant even describe how many people were in the streets dancing etc. Youll see pics when i get them up in 4 days when we are in singen with a proper computer to hook up our camras.
Yesterday we survived the 10 hour train ride up to Berlin. We wanted to change our dates and make singen first so we dont have to go back to the bottom of germany again in 4 days, but unfortunatly the berlin hostel was full, so we are going to stick out the long train rides.
itäs 9:17am right now and kirk is still sleeping, lazy boy hehe. This hostel has a girls wing and a boys wing so we are seperated. We just find it anoying because we cant tell when the other person wakes up etc... so im stuck waiting here in the lobby until he comes down which could be hours for all i know hehe ;)
Here in berlin, we are in a hostel outside of the main city. I think we choose it because it was cheaper and so we have to take the U-Bahn (metro), and Bus into the city. Hopefully it does not cost us too much for transportation... I remember when I was here before we could buy a book of tickets for everything, so i am going to look into that today.
Anyways, I willl report again soon!
love you all, thanks for all our comments i enjoy reading them!
love Dani ( and kirk too probably if he was awake ;) )

Luxembourg
Hey there.
well euro disney was a blast! A full day of excitement! We managed to get around the whole park... the only thing we did not see which kirk was kinda disapointed about was a princess! We did manage to get our pics with most of the other characters though ;)
We arrived in Luxembourg on Monday. We have both decided that it is the most beautiful city weve ever seen! Its small, yes, hehe. But it is georgous! It has a huge valley that our hostel is actually located in. The river flows throughout the whole town, and it only takes about 20 minutes tops to walk accross the whole city. Weve been to acouple museums and castles. The hostel is amazing. It is very clean and nice....we dont want to leave it. The food here is super cheap and they have a salad bar that is onlz 4 Euros , so weve been stalking up on our veggies.
We are leaving today for Bruge... this was originally not part of the plan. but we have changed some of the schedule becuase we have decided that a week in some places is going to be too long. unless we know people who tell us where to go and what to see.... we get everything we want to accomplish in a couple days, so we have cut some of our longer places in half and added a few cities.
For those of you who do not know... Bruge is a city just north of Brussels. I guess I will be able to tell you more about it afterwards.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Well report again in acouple days.
Love Dani & Kirk
ps: kirks mom has informed me that i have many spelling mistakes in the blog enteries.... just so you all dont think im stupid, there are mistakes becuase i am typing as fast as i can with out proof reading it b.c were paying for the internet access! Thanks for understanding ;)

Well we've had 2 full days of paris sight seeing! We hiked up the eiffel tower, went into the louve and saw the mona lisa, went to notre dame, saw the champs elysees, saw the musee d'orsay, and the hotel do ville. Instead of taking a tour bus around, there was a tour boat that we got on and took us to all of these stops. We were allowed to get on and off whenever we wanted throughout the day!
Kirk has finally agreed to go to Euro Disney :D :D :D :D We are going to go on Sunday, because that is when his family friends leave to go up to their cabin!
Today we're probably going to go into town and check out some other sites, as well as hang around here for a bit and visit. We check into a cheap hotel tonight that is close becuase there is not enough room for everyone unfortunatly.
Yesterday there was a music festival on all throughout paris. Everywhere there was little bands playing, it was neat to walk by and listen to them... especially when they were singing the english songs hehe!
Anyways, that's what we've been up to for the past 2 days.
the pictures will not upload onto this computer becuase it is too full. Hopefully in luxemburg we will be able to find one that will work!

Trip from Barcelona to Paris
Hello Everyone.
Our trip from Barcelona to Spain was quite adventerous. We did not book our train ride until the day before.... note to self, never do that again! All of the sitting room was already reserved, so if we wanted a direct train ride from Barcelona to Paris it was going to cost us an extra 70euro's each on top of our already paid train passes! Luckily the man behind the counter spoke a little bit of english because kirks spanish skills didn't really include stuff about train rides. He was able to tell us that if we wanted to catch a different train out of barcelona to another city then we could catch a train from there to paris that would only cost us an extra 17euro's each, becuase all the sitting room was reserved so we'd have to get beds. We obviously decided to do that instead of paying the 70euros.
The train ride out of barcelona to this weird city was quite interesting. A train arrived at the time ours was suppose to leave at the right platform. Unfortunatly this train station did not have any posted signs as to where the next train was heading etc. sooooo about 200 ppl hoped onto this train thinking is was the right one. Most of these people were american students, and therefore pretty much Everyone crammed onto this train was confuesed as to if we got on the right one. Luckily Kirk heard some spanish lady that said it was the wrong one getting off at the next stop up, so we decided to fallow her! Turns out she was correct! Fuef!!!
About 4 stops down the way on the "right" train now, all the american students caught up with us again! This was rediclious.... we were all crammed onto the train like sardines. Honestly we could not move and were standing for the whole 2.5 hour train ride. It was 30 degrees outside aswell, so as you can imagine we were all sweating buckets and eventually even the windows of the train started to sweat and steam up. It was not fun.
Finally when we arrived in this town, both kirk and i had to pee. we found the washrooms but were so discusted by them we both decided we could hold it! haha. lets just say we didn't need to pee That bad!
The train to paris was very nice. I think the beds were 17 euro's well spent seen as the train left at 9:30pm and arrived in paris at 7:30am. We watched a movie on my i-pod and slept the rest of the night!
We are staying with some family friends of Kirk's in paris here for 3 nights. Then we are moving to a hostel becuase they have relatives comming to stay with them from Toronto acutally. This morning we walked to a local market and have bought some lunch which kirk is cooking up now. This afernoon we're planning on going to see the efel tower! Woot. We are here until Monday, so i'll report later on paris.
We havn't figured out how to upload picutres yet on this computer, it's not letting us. but as soon as we do i'll post them.
hope everyone is doing well.

Barcelona-Spain
Hey Everyone.
So we arrived in Barcelona on a smooth flight that only cost us $29pounds ($60 dollers) each!
We arrived here on Tuesday at about 9pm, and had trouble finding out way into the city where we were staying b.c we got on the wrong bus from the airport. lucky we started talking to an english bloke (hehe) who was about our age who did the same thing. He had been here before though, so luckily we stuck with him and he found our way hehe!
We´ve almost been here a week now and it´s been awesome. We did a very tousity bus tour of the city, as well as rented bicycles and rode around the city, down the boardwalk ect. Yesterday we spend the day on the beautiful beach here, and tomorrow we are planning on taking a day trip to Blanes, where there is supposidly Super nice beaches! The water here is amazingly beautiful, like cuba but Cold! Which is nice though because the weather has been soooo hot! It´s been about 30 degrees everyday except today which was a bit cooler with clouds. Plus there is a lot of humidity here, i´ve been sweating like crazy haha. Kirk is super tanned already, and i´m getting there!!! hehe
We´ve tried to be thrifty here with food. there is a local market just down the street where we have bought a lot of meats and bagettes.. but a few times we have gone out for dinner. the restaurants here are mostly tapas... which is fun.
Anyways, we´re off to Paris on Monday. I´ll try to upload some pictures then because we´re staying with Kirks relatives and these computers don´t have a monitor i can plug my camra into.
Hope everyone is doing well,
love dani & kirk

London Adventures
Hey Everyone,
So we finally arrived in Europe!
We flew into London, where we met my friend Kate who showed us around the town. We pretty much walked and took the tube around all of downtown London that day! Weirdest thing to see them driving on the other side of the road and cars though!
On the 2nd evening we went for curry with kate, steve and an english/sweedish boy we met at the hostel, which was fun, and then went to a student's pub.
We are now in Salisbury, the countryside, at Kates farm. It was gorgeous here! It is a huge property with tones of horses on it as well as crops! We just got in this afternoon, so she's going to take us into town tomorrow and show us around. It's beautiful here though, which should be nice and relaxing before our real adventures begin trying to work our way around europe with out knowing people!
Anyways, i'll post again soon!

French River

So we're back from Pat and Ginette's Cabin which was located right on the french river. It was beautiful. We spent 2 full days there. There is two cabins, one in which all of us "kids" slept with 3 rooms, and then one in with the "adults" slept. The "kids" (us) took out the canoe and kayaks for three hours yesterday and went up to the rapids where Kirk and Sara went over the rapid in the canoe... and Kirk and Reed also went body surfing down it! It was quite the afternoon... although i got burnt :S i know not good dani, but i did put sunscreen on three times, so it's not my fault. Also I got 100000000 bug bights! i guess bugs arn't very common in BC because i'm definatly not use to it. i also have this one lump on the side of my neck that everyone is saying is another bug bight, but i am skeptical... I know i know i'm a hypocondriac, but still!
Anyways. we're back from the cabin now which was a wonderful trip. Tomorrow we head back into toronto for the day then at 10:50pm we get on our flight to England :D Woowoo!

Trip to Toronto
Hey Everyone...
So we're off. The start of our trip was not as good as expected unfortunatly. We had to leave our house by 4am to catch our 6am flight. As the plane was about to take off, Kirk started feeling sick. About half an hour into the flight Kirk once again felt very sick and decided to puke all over! This didn't help me as I am a horrible flyer anyways. Once I cleaned up his puke, as he was in the washroom, the flight attendent brought him some gingerale to hopefully calm his stomach... Unfortunatly as he opened it, it fizzed all over him aswell. Definatly not Kirk's day. Once we arrived in Toronto we had a 2 hr wait for our next flight to Sudbury (where we are now) to see Reed's (Kirk's brother) graduation. This plane was TINY! It only had 12 rows and we had to walk out onto the tarmat to get into it! We got delayed because of the lightening showers in Toronto.
Since we've arrived things have been good though! It is just Way too humid here for my liking!
The graduation went well and Kirk and Daveen's speaches were excellent!
We're off to One of Reed's professors cabin for the next two days, and then on Tuesday we're heading back to Toronto then off to England :D
Missing everyone already,
Love Dani
